Oslo, a city of clean design and rich coffee culture, offered both tradition and cutting-edge innovation during my recent visit. From the world-renowned Tim Wendelboe coffee shop to the headquarters of ROEST, a pioneer in coffee roasting technology, this trip marked a pivotal moment for our roastery. With the upcoming addition of ROEST’s P3000 machine, we are stepping into a new era of performance, consistency, and energy efficiency in coffee roasting.

Chapter 1: The Essence of Oslo’s Coffee Scene

Oslo has earned its place as a mecca for specialty coffee lovers, blending its minimalist Scandinavian ethos with a deep appreciation for quality. A visit to Tim Wendelboe’s shop exemplifies this perfectly. Tim Wendelboe’s coffee shop is more than just a space to enjoy a cup; it’s an embodiment of his legacy as a World Barista Champion and one of the top-ranked coffee roasteries globally. The shop itself is understated yet welcoming, reflecting a commitment to simplicity and purity. Every cup served is a result of meticulous care, from sourcing the beans to perfecting the roast. Sitting there, I couldn’t help but admire how every detail—from the menu to the brewing process—showcased a dedication to excellence that inspires the global specialty coffee scene.

Chapter 2: Meeting ROEST – A Company Redefining Coffee Roasting

After immersing myself in Oslo’s vibrant coffee culture, I made my way to the headquarters of ROEST, a company at the forefront of modern coffee roasting technology.

ROEST is far from a typical manufacturing facility. It operates like a close-knit family, with each roasting machine hand-assembled by skilled technicians. Tom Hopkins, their Customer Success Manager, welcomed me and introduced me to the company’s ethos. Though their workspace is small, the innovation within those walls is immense. I got an exclusive look at their new P3000 machine, observing its late-stage prototypes and learning how this technology could revolutionize the coffee roasting industry.

Chapter 3: Exploring the P3000 – A Game Changer for Roasting

The P3000 isn’t just a roasting machine; it’s a leap forward in how coffee can be roasted with precision, sustainability, and efficiency.
Tom guided me through the machine’s software and hardware, explaining how its advanced features allow for unparalleled data tracking and consistency. I had the chance to test the P3000 myself, setting baseline roasting profiles and experimenting with different batches. What stood out was its remarkable precision, delivering consistent results batch after batch. The P3000 combines power and accuracy while using significantly less energy, marking it as a pivotal moment for roasteries looking to improve both quality and sustainability.

Chapter 4: The Inspirational Spirit of ROEST
Beyond the technology, what struck me most was the ethos of the team at ROEST.

The team operates with a passion that mirrors the specialty coffee industry itself. The small-scale, hands-on approach to building their machines reflects their commitment to quality and innovation. Watching the P3000 come to life in their workshop, I could feel the sense of pride they take in their craft. It’s a reminder that, like coffee itself, great things often come from passion and precision.

Final Thoughts

The journey to Oslo was a reminder of why we do what we do at C•SOL. The P3000 represents more than advanced technology—it symbolizes the commitment to craft, sustainability, and connection that define the coffee community. I can’t wait to share this next chapter with you as we bring this incredible machine to C•SOL.

Chapter 5: Looking Ahead with C•SOL

Bringing the P3000 to C•SOL feels like the start of something transformative.

As one of the first roasteries worldwide to adopt this technology, we’re stepping into a new era of coffee roasting. The trip to Oslo was not just about discovering a new machine—it was about finding inspiration in the people and innovations driving our industry forward. With the P3000, we’ll not only enhance the quality of our roasts but also reduce our environmental impact, aligning perfectly with the values that C•SOL represents.
